Heritage Hall President Search

In December of 2019, Guy Bramble announced his intention to retire as Headmaster of Heritage Hall at the end of the 2020-21 school year, following 33 years of distinguished service.

In January of 2020, Board President David Donchin announced that the Board, in collaboration with school administration, had determined that a new administrative structure would best serve the future needs of the School. In anticipation of this new structure and the imminent search for a new institutional leader, the Board named Mr. Bramble President of Heritage Hall and Nick Carter became the School’s headmaster.

The Search Committee co-chairs have engaged a nationally-recognized search firm based in Nashville, The Education Group, to lead the search for a new President of Heritage Hall. This page will be updated with news as the search progresses.

President Search Updates for the Heritage Hall Community

March 6, 2020

Dear Charger Community,

On behalf of the Search Committee, we are pleased to share our progress in the search for a new President and outline the next steps in the process.  Following the announcement of Mr. Bramble’s retirement, we began forming our Search Committee. After many phone calls, breakfast meetings, and brainstorming sessions, we secured 16 outstanding people who bleed blue and gold and agreed “to serve” Heritage Hall in this capacity. We’ve posted the names of the Search Committee members on this page, along with their affiliation with the School.

Search Firm Selected

We are happy to announce that the Search Committee has engaged The Education Group (TEG), a nationally-recognized search firm based in Nashville, to assist in the search process. Established in 1988, TEG provides search and executive coaching services specifically to independent schools. We were impressed by TEG’s experience in executive searches, their collective understanding of independent schools, and their commitment to helping us create a collaborative and inclusive search process.

The Search Process and Timeline

The team from TEG – Bob Kirkpatrick, Allison Lorimer, and Katherine Moncure Stuart – will assist the Search Committee, beginning with a campus visit March 23-25 and a meeting with the Board and Search Committee to plan the next steps. During this visit, the TEG team will also meet with various faculty, staff, administrators, patrons, current students, and alumni.
Over the next month, we will gather information and collect feedback to determine a profile of the ideal candidate to lead the School. We expect to begin reaching out to candidates in April. Periodic updates on the search process will be made via e-mail and posted on the Heritage Hall website.
The Board is committed to a thorough, collaborative, and inclusive search process. Your constructive feedback and ideas are welcome. It is a privilege to steward this process on behalf of Heritage Hall’s amazing leaders, faculty, and school community. We appreciate your trust and support and look forward to sharing additional updates in the coming months.
With Charger Pride,
Janet McLain and John Kennedy
