Distinguished Speaker Dave Mochel to Offer Advice on Practicing a Good Life in the Presence of Challenge

Heritage Hall welcomes Dave Mochel – well-being coach and consultant, Applied Attention Consulting LLC – as the third speaker of the 2016-17 installment of the School’s Distinguished Speaker Series Thursday, January 12, at 7:00 p.m. in The Heritage Hall Class of 1977 Middle School Howard Theatre. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.

Esteemed for his proven practices on working effectively with discomfort and distraction, Mochel partners with individuals, couples, teams, and organizations worldwide to focus attention and energy on putting energy into what is most important; responding peacefully, positively, and productively to whatever shows up in life; and working effectively with stress, resistance, anxiety, frustration, and the feeling of being stuck.

“Life is filled with demands, discomfort, and distractions that we cannot control. We do, however, have an incredible capacity to work with all of this peacefully and productively,” explains Mochel. “Modern science and enduring wisdom have much to say about how to practice a good life in the presence of challenge – we will discuss specific practices that can be integrated into daily life.”

"Finding our human center is fundamental to our well-being. It seems we are becoming almost too busy to think, too active to ‘be,’ too stressed and anxious to live and laugh,” remarks Heritage Hall Director of Academic Affairs Nick Carter. “Dave Mochel teaches the value and practice of stillness and acceptance; he shares with communities from accumulated experience and research, those actions and behaviors that lead to healthy communities, and greater personal fulfillment, meaning, growth, and connection. He is a right person at a right time."
