Distinguished Speaker Dr. Robert Sapolsky to Provide Insight on the Science Behind Human Actions

Why do we humans do the things we do and feel the way we feel? Acclaimed neuroendocrinologist, world (and Ted Talk) lecturer, behavioral and genetic researcher, author, and Stanford professor Dr. Robert Sapolsky has spent decades discovering real answers to our most essential questions about choices, morality, behaviors, and feelings. His latest book, Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst,is both a synthesis and culmination of a long study devoted to the emerging morality.

In a special presentation, Sushi and Middle Age, Sapolsky will share his unique perspective on morality, choice, and our natural resistance to change as we age, as Heritage Hall opens its 2017-18 Distinguished Speaker Series on Monday, October 30 at 7:00 pm in the Howard Theatre on the Heritage Hall campus. A book signing will take place immediately after the presentation.

“Dr. Robert Sapolsky has revolutionized the understanding of human behaviors, fusing anthropology, philosophy, and psychology with the biology of researched science that unravel the deeper causes behind actions. His iconoclastic, irreverent intellect entertains, even as his astounding findings explain our own lives – and where they may be headed. Dr. Sapolsky may be one of the most important pioneers of this century,” stated Nick Carter, Heritage Hall Director of Academic Affairs.

Sapolsky’s appearance is presented by Heritage Hall as an extension of the School’s commitment to community engagement through lifelong learning. Admission to the Distinguished Speaker Series is free and open to the public. Heritage Hall is located at 1800 NW 122nd Street in Oklahoma City. For more information, call 405.749.3001.
