US Students Explore Options Beyond Traditional Classrooms

From excursions abroad to adventures closer to home, the 2020 Upper School HH Explore catalog has something for everyone. To learn more about this year’s offerings and narrow down their choices, students had an opportunity to visit with the different course sponsors during today’s HH Explore Fair.

“This year, we are pleased to bring back some of our most popular courses and offer new possibilities for experiential learning on campus, in the local community, across the U.S., and abroad,” stated HH Explore Co-Director George McDowell ’82. “The information fair brings students together in one place where they can conveniently and efficiently see what opportunities are available and obtain more information about courses of interest,” McDowell explained.

New this year, students in each course will collaborate on a project to be presented during the spring Explore Fair on Thursday, March 26. According to McDowell, this added educational component provides a platform for students to reflect upon and share their experiences, which reinforces lessons learned during the week.

“As we continually work to grow and enhance the HH Explore program, a culminating project seems like the natural next step,” McDowell observed. “Not only will the projects provide a direction for the class, they’ll allow students to share their knowledge, skills, and experiences with their peers at the conclusion of their chosen course of study,” McDowell concluded.

Course enrollment for HH Explore 2020 (March 9-13) is open through the end of the academic day on Tuesday, October 22. View catalog: heritagehall.com/usexplore.
