Upper School Kindness Club Hosts Blood Drive

To help fight a statewide blood shortage due to COVID-19, the Heritage Hall Kindness Club partnered with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) to host a blood drive in the Upper School on October 26th.

“We wanted to host a drive as a way to help save lives and give back to the community, and we figured a Halloween-themed event would be a fun way to bring attention to the drive,” stated Kindness Club President Campbell Leiterman ’22.

The drive fell on the first day of a historic ice storm. Despite the cold, rain, and sleet, 26 Chargers donated. “With each donation potentially saving three lives, that means up to 78 recipients benefited. In addition, some donors made a double red cell donation, meaning they gave two units instead of one, which was phenomenal,” said Leiterman.

Expressing gratitude for the school community’s support, Leiterman remarked, “Blood drives benefit so many, and I am proud of how we came together to serve.” According to Leiterman, the club hopes to host a drive during both the fall and spring semesters.
