What better way to ring in fall at The Hall than with a blood drive that encourages students, faculty, and patrons to give back to their community by saving lives. Partnering with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI), Heritage Hall’s Upper School Kindness Club coordinated a blood drive on Thurs., Sept. 30, that netted 32 full blood donations and eight double red blood cell donations.

Oklahoma’s continuing blood shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic means that donors are needed regularly to replenish the blood supply. As such, Kindness Club President Campbell Leiterman '22 noted the importance of the drive’s ability to gather members of the school community together based on the shared and significant experience of donating blood. 

Following her donation, first-time donor Alli Williams '22 observed, “Because of the healthy human body’s incredible ability to replenish blood, donating to those who are in the hospital and do not have that same ability is an amazing way to give back.” 

By the end of Thursday, Charger donors had benefited over 150 patients. In recognition of this achievement, OBI committed $15 per donor, or $600, to a nonprofit of Kindness Club’s choosing. The group chose Sisu Youth Services, an organization that provides overnight shelter, clothing, meals, and case management to Oklahoma City youth experiencing homelessness.

Kindness Club aims to spread meaningful kindness throughout the school campus and greater community. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthwhile cause.
