Three Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Corp

Three Heritage Hall seniors – Nadine Brown, Davis Park, and Braden Perkins – were recently recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Perkins was named a National Merit semifinalist, while Brown and Park received commended student accolades.

National Merit recognition begins with the identification of 50,000 students (from 1.5 million nationwide) achieving top scores on the PSAT assessment. Of those, 34,000 receive letters of commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise; 16,000 earn the status of semifinalist based on being among the highest scoring entrants in each state. Perkins will now be considered for finalist standing.

Beginning in March, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation notifies approximately 7,250 finalists they have been selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship. Merit Scholarship awards are of three types: National Merit $2,500 Scholarship, corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards, and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Though commended students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some honorees become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

We congratulate these scholars for their achievements!
