Upper School Students Get “Wild” in The Jungle

by Jessica Leite '22

Standing in the student section, cheering on the Chargers, has never felt this good! After a year of limited capacity at sporting events due to COVID-19, Upper School students are thrilled to be back in the stands filling the student section as a part of The Jungle.

According to faculty sponsor Jenny Gray Ferguson (Heritage Hall Class of 1996), The Jungle is a coordinated effort to rally students in grades 9-12 to support Heritage Hall athletics. “The purpose of The Jungle is to bring Charger Pride to every event. A lively student section is motivating to the players and can be game-changing,” Ferguson explained.

To connect with the student body, The Jungle started an official Instagram page (@thehalljungle) managed by sponsors and student leaders that promotes game days and dress-up themes (i.e., camouflage, Hawaiian, pink out). Through this accessible platform, The Jungle keeps Chargers engaged, excited, and present at games and scrimmages throughout the year.

In addition, The Jungle rallies bring the entire school community together with school spirit and excitement in support of our student-athletes. The Jungle’s most recent event, held Wednesday, September 22, had everyone pumped up for the coming weekend’s slate of athletic events. A great time was had by one and all.
