Computer Science Teacher

Position Description: Heritage Hall seeks a Computer Science teacher for a full-time position in the Upper School Innovative Studies department. Duties begin in early August 2022. The position includes teaching across multiple grades, 9-12. Class sizes range from 8-20.
 
For the School year commencing in August 2022, the schedule anticipates three to four sections per semester of Computer Science classes on an alternating blue/gold day cycle. Each class will meet two or three times per week for 70-75 minutes. Courses may include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Computer Science, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, Cybersecurity, and/or possibly others, depending on need and applicant qualifications.

Other Responsibilities: In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty at Heritage Hall may coach or supervise a variety of activities typical to a private day school environment, including advising, coaching, committee work, and supervisory duties. The candidate may be invited to sponsor activities in an area of interest.

Education: An advanced degree in the subject area is preferred but not necessary. 

Experience: Familiarity with computer programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C, C++, and Java is required. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Teachers must be adept at using technology as an integral part of the curriculum. Knowledge of current pedagogy and project-based learning are preferred. Knowledge of current Computer Science/Technology education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles is expected. As part of a school, the candidate should have a passion for making a positive impact on the lives and learning of children and an eagerness to work within a diverse student body.

Salary: Competitive with other area schools.
