HH Celebrates All Chargers Day

In commemoration of the lives lost on 9/11 and in an effort to spark conversations on the importance of diversity, inclusivity, and daily freedoms, Heritage Hall students, faculty, and staff from all divisions participated in a range of All Chargers Day observations.

“Being a part of a diverse community makes us stronger. All Chargers Day is a day set aside to embrace and celebrate our diversity, and to promote the virtue of inclusivity,” explained Lilly Roberson ’21, who helped spearhead the event.

In the Upper School, Head of School Nick Carter fostered the creation of a video highlighting some of the diverse backgrounds and characteristics of various students and teachers. An Upper School choral performance of “Let It Be” by the Beatles was especially moving.

After watching the Dr. Maya Angelou video Just Do Right, Middle School students discussed their takeaways. Responses included the following:
   • “Take responsibility for your actions.”
   • “Do what you can to make the world a better place.
Even small things can make a big difference.”
   • “Don’t let people get in the way of you doing the
      right thing.”
   • “Stand up for what you believe in.”
   • “Include those who feel left out. Make new friends.”

In the Lower School, each class watched an episode of Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices, a series that helps children explore and navigate topics such as race, representation, and self-love.
