Enriching Our Student Culture

  • Kindness, Truth, and Service to Others

Our school culture is enriched by an educational philosophy that encourages kindness, truth, and service to others. As early as preschool, our students affirm the values of diversity, mutual respect, and social responsibility – not only as they apply within our walls, but also within a broader social context.

While service-learning is practiced in each division at Heritage Hall, it is a requirement for graduation in the Upper School, where students must earn 25 service hours yearly. Service hours are granted for volunteer experiences completed with nonprofit agencies that have been pre-approved by the Director of Service Learning.

Day of Service

Each fall, Heritage Hall Upper School students participate in the Day of Service to benefit more than 20 nonprofit organizations in the greater Oklahoma City area. The day begins with a community breakfast for our School family, followed by several hours of meaningful service to our community.

The Day of Service is made more memorable by the many deep connections that are forged between students and the organizations they serve. Students will often develop relationships that continue throughout their Heritage Hall experience.

Service Learning Capstone Offering

In place of the service learning requirement, seniors have the opportunity to investigate a key area of social concern (poverty, justice, health, family, prejudice), conduct interviews, perform service in the area of interest, and ultimately compose a major research paper and presentation proposing a way to address the issue.
