  • A Destination for Learning

Serving grades 5-12, the Rainbolt Family Library, located in Harris Hall, is a destination for learning that fosters purpose, creativity, and curiosity. Our mission is to help students discover who they are, explore their passions, and become lifelong, independent learners.

Guided by the American Association of School Library Standards Framework for Learners, the library aims to help equip students to think, create, share, and grow. Within this framework, the library staff works with students in six key commitment areas: inquire, include, collaborate, curate, explore, and engage.

Our library staff works with classroom teachers and students to provide each Heritage Hall student with a personalized experience within this framework to prepare them for college, career, and life. Through collection development, curation of top-tier research databases, and one-on-one instruction, students receive an embedded education in information literacy skills.

  • More than Just Books

The Lower School Library seeks to cultivate a love of reading in emerging and proficient readers and create enthusiastic researchers and writers.

Serving ECC-fourth grade, our library program strives to expose students to all literary genres and a wide range of topics. Library lessons work in conjunction with the curriculum to reinforce core subject areas and teach students how to navigate different resources and find and access age-appropriate books and databases.

Lower School students participate in several book award programs, including the Oklahoma Sequoyah Book Award (grades 3-4), the Redbud Read-Aloud Award Challenge (grades K-1), the Irma Simonton Black and James H. Black Award for Excellence in Children's Literature (grade 2), and the Cook Prize for STEM books (grade 3).
